Green Commiment

" To ensure sustainable development of the Earth, we supply green products. In consideration of the environmental impacts during the product lifecycle, we reduce the carbon footprint from product design, to shipping and packaging."

As global environmental consciousness grows and various environmental regulations and directives emerge, MiTAC is aligning with international trends and customer needs. In response, we have developed the "MiTAC Product Environmental Management Specifications" and "Environment-related Substances Management Procedures." These guidelines mandate the optimization of chemical substance management across the entire lifecycle, from raw material acquisition to waste recycling. This commitment is ingrained within the broader business policies of the entire Group. Efforts are made to comply with the EU ErP energy efficiency standards and international energy-saving label systems. Power converters in systems are selected according to customer and product certification requirements to meet the appropriate 80 Plus power converter level. This enhances system efficiency, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and achieves the goal of energy-saving and carbon reduction, ultimately allowing us to produce environmentally friendly green products.

MiTAC Green Product Framework

Product Design

From the product design stage, we require suppliers to provide raw materials and semi-finished products that must comply with specific environmental protection and safety standards, as well as industry regulations, in order to achieve environmental protection and energy saving. All products meet the European Union's RoHS recast environmental directive and the EU ErP energy efficiency standards. System products (servers) can meet the international ENERGY STAR certification requirements as per customer certification needs. They use power supplies with high energy efficiency and high power factor that comply with the international 80 PLUS standards to achieve energy savings. We have been improving the energy efficiency levels of power supplies annually. While the industry standard was generally at the 80 PLUS Gold level, in 2019 we upgraded all our products to the 80 PLUS Platinum level, and further enhanced to the even higher energy efficiency level of 80 PLUS Titanium in 2023. By the end of 2025, the China Energy Label (CEL) certification for servers will be mandatory, and server products exported to China will conduct energy efficiency level certification according to its regulations.

Packaging Design

We have adopted the green environmental concept for product internal and external packaging design, where low-toxic, low-polluting, resource-saving, reusable and recyclable raw materials are applied to minimize waste and pollution and materialize the concept of sustainable Earth.

  • External packaging materials: 100% recyclable paperboard is used to reduce deforestation and the water resources consumed in paper product manufacturing. The printing process uses 100% environmentally friendly water-based ink, and the use of elemental chlorine as a bleaching agent is prohibited.
  • Internal packaging materials: Non-toxic, low-pollution, recyclable, and environmentally friendly materials are used. Priority is given to using existing designs to reduce the need for new mold creation and the resource and energy consumption associated with producing new packaging materials. We use PVC-free packaging materials and employ EPE (expanded polyethylene) cushioning materials for product transportation, replacing the more environmentally harmful EPS (expanded polystyrene). Additionally, we have developed a new cushioning material, E-POP (polyolefin plastomer), which is lighter and has a higher recycling rate.
  • To meet the internal testing and external marketing needs during the company's production process, previously used packaging materials are prioritized for internal product or sample transfer to reduce the use of new packaging materials.
  • Opt for Recycled Materials: Choose packaging made from biodegradable materials and recycled resources, such as paper partitions and plant fiber non-woven bags, to reduce excessive dependence on existing resources.

MiTAC Product Environmental Management Specifications

To achieve the goal of environmentally friendly products, MiTAC ensures that all components and materials comply with international regulatory requirements such as the EU RoHS Recast, WEEE Recast, REACH, POPs, Section 6 (h) of TSCA, Per/Polyfluorinated Alkylated Substances (PFAS), California Proposition 65, Italy's CONAI packaging regulations and labeling requirements, and China VOC directives, as well as the Management Methods for the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products in China. MiTAC strictly enforces compliance with its Product Environmental Management Specifications (GP-1-00001) across the supply chain. Through green supply chain management and hazardous substance management, MiTAC provides low-toxicity, low-pollution products while reducing harm to the environment and human health.
