Taiwan

Tree Planting Charity Project

Since 2022, MiTAC has initiated a tree planting project in collaboration with the Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation, which has rigorous assessment and extensive practical experience in reforestation. The project focuses on reforesting and protecting reservoirs in the fallow farmland of Fushoushan. We also collaborate with National Taiwan University, funding the restoration of forested areas in the NTU Highland Experimental Farm that require rehabilitation after a fire. Both projects are part of Taiwan's forest restoration initiatives, allowing for local oversight of their effectiveness. In the future, they present opportunities for forest carbon sequestration, which holds significant meaning for the group's commitment to mitigating global warming, protecting water resources, and promoting biodiversity.

The Tse-Xin foundation's tree planting site is located 5 kilometers upstream from the Deji Reservoir, which is in a severely over-exploited watershed area due to historical agricultural activities. MiTAC and Tse-Xin chose this location to enhance environmental resilience. The collaboration with NTU focuses on afforestation across 15 hectares in the Cuifeng section of the university's experimental farm. The goal is to achieve ecological conservation and contribute to environmental protection and climate change mitigation.

The tree planting project plans to plant 26,250 native Taiwanese trees within six years to contribute to enhancing climate resilience, biodiversity, and water resource protection. By the end of 2024, the tree planting project had cumulatively planted 23,081 trees.

Donations to the Chinese Taipei Baseball and Softball Association of the Disabled

One of MiTAC's brands, Mio, has committed resources to the long-term sponsorship of the 'Chinese Taipei Baseball and Softball Association of the Disabled.' The association organizes events, including the 'Export Cup Blind Baseball Tournament' and the 'Export Cup Diverse Communities Baseball Tournament', which integrates participants with physical disabilities, hearing impairments, seniors, and women. Blind baseball originated in 1976 and is known in English as 'Beep Ball' because the ball emits sounds that help players determine its location. The fourth 'Export Cup Blind Baseball Tournament,' organized by the Chinese Taipei Baseball and Softball Association of the Disabled in 2024, is one of the few events in Taiwan specifically for visually impaired individuals, and it showcased the team spirit of players who overcome physical limitations at the Lujiaoxi Softball Field. Their dedication to their sport and fulfilling team missions was truly moving. Meanwhile, the 10th 'Export Cup Diverse Communities Baseball Tournament' provides a platform for women, hearing-impaired, physically challenged, and elderly players to find their voice in a beloved baseball event, echoing the Mio brand spirit of "Moving Forward".

Unneeded clothing was offered to employees at discounted prices, to promote the reuse of used items and reducing waste through material recycling. A certain percentage of the sales proceeds was donated.
